NALWDB Operations Manager, Barney Trujillo, Finance Committee Chair, Pablo Lujan, and One-Stop Operator, Ericka Van Eckhoutte, visited with the staff of Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez regarding workforce development and projects happening across the Northern Region

How do you serve?

“Use holistic approaches to meet the needs and overcome the challenges that face youth/young adults; ultimately engaging them in career pathways to meet current/future workforce needs”

-NALWDB/NMWC

“Serving on our Northern Board is an opportunity to do more for our Northern NM communities, and to also continue to give feedback on NMWC’s direction of services and needs, in which I have always had a passion for.”

-Maria Herrera

The Northern Area Local Workforce Development Board recognizes the need to fill current and future gaps in the workforce pipeline and is continuously innovative in recruiting, training, and placing local opportunity-seekers. This innovation includes strengthening partnerships between state workforce and corrections systems to improve the processes used to assist formerly incarcerated and justice-involved individuals in reentering the labor force. The NALWDB is confident that the skill development of these individuals will improve labor market outcomes for the region while directly impacting lives in a positive manner through wrap-around services and support.

-NALWDB

The Northern Area Local Workforce Development Board is proud to have several business owners representing their communities throughout the Northern Area. While Northern New Mexico is beautiful and full of culture, it is also a vastly rural region, so these businesses play an integral role in local economies and often serve as the economic engine in the communities. Listening to these voices will support the local businesses as they bring growth and innovation to the communities in which they serve, and ultimately lead to the development of new jobs. With this level of economic stability, the next generation of workforce will remain or move to the local area to fill future positions and further grow the economy, fulfilling the vision of the Northern Board. -NALWDB

The Northern Area Local Workforce Development Board believes the aim of workforce development isto foster prosperity for individuals, communities, and businesses. In practice, workforce development means offering your employees training, development opportunities, and continuing education programs to maximize their job success and career pathways. The NALWDB takes pride in fulfilling their social responsibility to remain involved in hosting and attending community employment, educational, and networking events.

-NALWDB

The mission of the Northern Area Local Workforce Development Board is to educate and train our workforce to meet the changing needs of Northern New Mexico. We are dedicated to achieving this commitment by designing and implementing a locally-delivered workforce development system which will engage government, business, education and labor to provide the Northern Area with a well-training, highly-skilled, and competitive workforce and to provide a seamless, business-driven system of service delivery that enhances access for all customers.

-NALWDB

The U.S. Department of Labor has established the “American Job Center” network, in order to create a unified name and brand to identify online and in-person workforce development services as part of a single network of services that use public funding. The one-stop delivery system must use either that common identifier as its name, or use the tag line phrase, “a proud partner of the American Job Center network.”

As the end of the year draws near, The Northern Area Local Workforce Development Board would like to take the opportunity to share a few words of reflection. Not only are we appreciative of the workforce services being provided in our New Mexico Workforce Connection Centers, but the NALWDB also takes great pride in seeing how the partners of these centers have come together to support their communities throughout the holiday and winter seasons.
